Collabing for Locals Only.

Hey hey,

I recently finished my intended piece for the "Locals Only" art collaborative on Society6. In this collab, artists were tasked with creating pieces that reflected the spirit of their respective hometowns. Being a born-and-bred New York City boy, I felt the only way to truly pay homage to my hometown was not to do another boring and frustratingly ubiquitous city skyline. That has been done more than enough times to make me want to ram my head through an asbestos wall and take a deep breath. No. seriously. no.

Instead I decided to honor our universally-despised long-native New Yorkers - namely, the filthy, disease-bearing vermin for which my fair city is infamous. So I fired up a triple-threat combination of Flash, Illustrator, and Photoshop to get that shit done, in a nine-hour session of NY grime and grit. The piece entitled "New York City (Respect the Natives)" is sort of a testament to the freedom that comes with living here in one of the greatest cities on planet Earth; a freedom that extends to all individuals who dwell here, trickling down from the high ideals symbolized by our iconic Statue of Liberty, all the way to the roaches and rats that infest the bowels, gutters, and darkened spaces of this city.

Respect it.

The piece is up on Society6, and is now available for sale as a one-size Giclée print, as well as a stretched canvas in my Society6 art store. Hit up the link below for purchasing options.

Til' next time, I'll be here bumping on this Kanye West "Power" remix (which is not bad, by the way), counting the days until grad school starts up again (and working on Gun!). Ka-blam.
